The 525 Flight Test Engineering group is responsible for conducting the development and certification flight and ground tests on 525 flight test helicopters in a safe, organized and efficient manner. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and schedule 525 test activity at the Flight Research Center and off-site test sites/facilities

  • Prepare test cards, pre-flight briefings and direct execution of test flight from the telemetry room or as an aircrew member, as required

  • Prepare and/or review test plans, test requests and test reports

  • Perform aircraft weight and balance calculations to ensure the test aircraft is configured as per test requirements

  • Update CAFTA G2 test database with information collected during the test and the post-test de-brief

  • Perform workbook entries in support of aircraft maintenance and modification work

  • Coordinate with appropriate program, engineering and external groups to resolve squawks

  • Must be able to communicate effectively (verbal and in writing) and have good organizational skills

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

  • At least 2 years of experience as a flight test engineer

Preferred Skills

  • Proven ability to respond positively to change in a dynamic environment

  • Experience in rotorcraft is an asset

  • Having a pilot license is preferred

  • Ability to obtain a third-class FAA medical certificate
