Bell is seeking an ManufacturingPlanning Numerical Control Engineer (Class III)
Under generalsupervision, determines from Engineering information the most efficient andexpedient method of machining parts, assemblies, and related tools wheredimensional sequencing of operations is required on numerical controlledmachine shop equipment. Such determination must be related to the rate ofproduction required and requires that the Engineer determine:
Starting material size,form and condition.
Sequence of fabricationoperations to be performed on numerical controlled machines and their relationto operational processes of treatment and finish.
Selection of numericalcontrolled machines and accessories available and capable of securing requiredtolerances, dimensions and shape.
Orders, by worddescriptions and/or sketch (Tool Orders), special, perishable, and gage toolingsufficient for purchase, make, or design and make of such items.
The Engineer’s WorkComprises:
The determination ofinitial speeds and feeds of machine tools based on available data andexperience and the selection of the proper cutting tools and coolant.
The creation of toolorders, sketches, and dimensional charts, material sketches, machine operationdiagrams and lists.
The sequence andoperation’s numerical data and language necessary for direct or computer in-putto numerical controlled metal removing machine tools.
The analysis of shopoperations to:
Correct for heat treatdistortion.
Adjust dimensions forfit and function and to secure Engineering change when required.
Corrects machineselection, operation, definition or tooling to reduce scrap or cost.
Directs and instructslower classified Engineers.
Maintains records andschedules of work assigned.
Duties may involvemiscellaneous functions such as analyzing, investigating and preparing facilitystudies relative to plant areas, man-hour, machinery and equipment cost, andspecifying proper machines to be purchased, reviewing work to be sub-contractedand advising and assisting sub-contractors on Production Engineering andManufacturing problems.

Two (2) years college orequivalent, with preferred courses in:
Math through Trigonometryand Analytical Geometry.
Metallurgy of aircrafttype materials.
Must have sufficienteducation to be able to:
Solve mathematicalproblems as related to machine shop practices.
To communicate either orallyor in writing with personnel at Engineering level, as well as personnel atmachine operator level.
Or Minimum ExperienceOf:
Six (6) years generalmachine shop experience, or
Three (3) years generalmachine shop experience with recent machine planning experiences in a lowerclassification of at least two years, or
Three (3) years ofmachine trade school plus one (1) year of machine shop direct experience.
Math throughTrigonometry and Analytical Geometry.
